Body Dysmorphic Disorder

Some issues with the body are more profound than others. It’s quite normal to feel that your body does not measure up to some standard. Most of us want to improve some part. When it becomes a problem, you are very out of touch with how your body looks to others and to yourself. You see FAT where others see thin. You see UGLY where others see normal or even beautiful. In fact, individuals with body dysmorphic disorder are often repulsed by their body and what they think they see. They have a very distorted view of their body.  Research is discovering that there is alteration in the brain in the area that processes visual. So individuals with this disorder have brains that actually process visual input differently. This definitely is one problem area that requires professional attention.
